Human Trafficking

Section 787.06(2)(d), Florida Statutes, defines human trafficking as “transporting, soliciting, recruiting, harboring, providing, enticing, maintaining, or obtaining another person for the purpose of exploitation of that person.” The Office of the State Courts Administrator has developed the following human trafficking overview regarding human trafficking in Florida.

The Florida Alliance to End Human Trafficking

This nonprofit organization was created by the Florida Legislature to provide funding, support and assistance to the statewide effort to end human trafficking. They have designed a one-hour online course that is free and focuses on detecting human trafficking, best practices for reporting human trafficking, and the interventions and treatment for survivors of human trafficking.

BJS Releases Human Trafficking Incidents Reported by Law Enforcement, 2022 – Statistical Tables

The Bureau of Justice Statistics, in the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs, today released Human Trafficking Incidents Reported by Law Enforcement, 2022 – Statistical Tables. This report presents data on human trafficking incidents and victimizations from BJS and FBI’s NIBRS Estimation Program.

The report analyzes the types of human trafficking (labor trafficking and sex trafficking) in 2022. It provides statistics on the number of incidents and victimizations by type and includes breakdowns by sex, age, race, location, and weapon type. It also includes statistics that show incident clearance types, numbers of offenders per incident, numbers of victims per incident, and the relationship of alleged offenders to victims.
